Background

No city crew floods this one -- it's entirely in the hands of the Fitzroy Harbour Community Association, running on volunteer hours and membership dues since the Community Centre opened its doors in 1977. They keep it supervised most weeknight evenings all winter, so there's usually someone around.

Permanent boards and lights make this a proper hockey rink that keeps going after dark, with volunteers from the community looking after the ice and someone on site while it's open. The community centre means you can lace up indoors and use a washroom, though the site isn't set up for wheelchair access.
