Background
The volunteers keeping this ice smooth trace their roots back to 1946 -- when the Constance & Buckham's Bay Community Association started life as the Property Owners Association. Eight decades later, they're still at it: flooding, checking, and publishing their own rink schedule every winter. The community centre next door has grown right along with them, most recently expanded in 2015.

A full boarded rink with permanent lights, so evening pickup hockey and after-dark skating are both on the table. The community centre beside it means you can lace up indoors and use the washrooms rather than doing it on a snowbank, and there's someone on site while it's open. Volunteers look after the ice, and the site isn't wheelchair accessible.
